How do I know I am choosing the right Senior Photographer?

Many seniors feel pressure when choosing a senior photographer. Believe it or not, I’ve had a few seniors over then years consult with me who ended up choosing another artist. Although it sounds counter-intuitive, I actually prefer that a senior knows if I’m right for them before their shoot, even if they choose someone else. I want good things for any senior who comes my way, and that means they have to choose a senior photographer who will give them the end-result they are dreaming of. That means for many, they’ve come across my work or my socials and they know my style is perfect for them! But for others, they have a different vision and that’s okay. So how do you know if you’ve chosen the right one for you?

-You’ll feel a connection with the photographer: You will feel like they understand what your vision is, and what you have hoped for in your senior shoot. Although they may adjust some of your ideas or tell you things are/aren’t possible, they all ultimately “click” with you.

-You will feel confident in the investment: You need to find a photographer that suits your budget/your parent’s budget. You don’t want to be left with a credit card bill and thousands of dollars of debt for your senior photos (yes, that’s a real thing!), and you want happy memories, not crushing guilt over spending more than you had planned. Ask questions up front to know if it’s right for you. For me, I am crystal clear about my costs so there are no surprises.

-You’ll read realistic reviews: Check online reviews to see what other clients have said about the photographer you’re considering. You want to know they have a track-record of producing great photos and being professional! Look for consistency among the reviews you read.

-Look at their portfolio: A photographer's portfolio is a collection of their best work, and it can give you a good idea of their style, expertise, and experience. Look for photographs that resonate with you and align with the style you're looking for!
